Mary Shea is an accomplished painter and printmaker. Her paintings are done in oils on paper as well as canvas or board. In printmaking she concentrates on drypoint and monotypes, often drawing back into the prints with pastels or essence. Her subject matter is varied – interior spaces, figure, landscape – but is always based on an interest in exploring texture, color and light. Mary’s training in art includes an MFA in drawing from the University of Cincinnati, a BFA in painting and sculpture from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, and study at the New York Studio School and the Yale Summer School of Music and Art. Mary has taught drawing, painting, printmaking and color theory. She has taught at the University of Cincinnati, the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Edmonds Community College, Miller Community Center in Seattle, and Daniel Smith Seattle.
